Achievements

Chosen by Arrow Karts

Of all of Anthony’s achievements since 2008, probably the most significant one is being selected to join the team of Arrow Karts, Australia’s leading kart manufacturer. Arrow usually specialises in sponsoring the senior ranked drivers, but, spotting Anthony’s special talent, they chose him as their only sponsored Junior in Australia for 2011.

As a requirement of his sponsorship, Anthony had to participate in the Championship International Karting (CIK) ‘Stars of Karting’ Championship Series. The series consisted of five meets from February to October in Queensland, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Newcastle. Anthony has been challenged to race against the best Junior drivers in Australia in the Pro Junior KF3 category; an international class with the highest horsepower of racing available to Junior drivers. To detail the step up from State level racing, each CIK competitor must race ten times over two days in time trials, heats and finals. Each race is 25 laps on a 1km circuit, with each race taking about 25 minutes each. That’s roughly a total of five hours’ worth of racing over the two days.

Dash for Cash

In November 2010, Anthony competed in the widely publicised ‘Dash for Cash’ event held in Kalgoorlie. This $60000 cash-prize event organised by the Eastern Goldfields Kart Club drew racing State, National and international heavies; including Italian champion Roberto Toninelli.

Anthony savoured the opportunity to race against the intensely competitive field on his home track and proved his ability by walking away with 1st prizes in both the ‘Junior Clubman’ and ‘Junior National Heavy’ classes, upstaging several of the State’s top youngsters. In addition, he took out 3rd place in the ‘Junior National Light’ class and bagged almost $3000 in prize money. It’s worth noting that Anthony’s talent is not common; he was the only local to claim division honours. The Kalgoorlie Miner detailed his achievements by writing;
“the 15 year-old produced an eye-catching drive…and is considered one of the sport’s most exciting emerging talents in the junior national lights and junior clubman categories.”

2012 Australian Sprint Kart National Titles, Darwin - 1st Place Clubman Light

In July 2012 Anthony initially claimed 2nd place in the ‘Clubman Light’ division from 30 drivers.  He certainly wasn’t ranked as a likely podium placegetter only qualifying 10th in time trials but good heats saw him start on the grid in 6th position for the final, he had amazing pace and he raced through the field to claim 2nd prize passing four other previous National Title holders on the way!  However post race inspection of 1st place’s engine by the technical people deemed the engine to be illegal and Anthony was confirmed the National Title winner of 2012 Clubman Light and received his number 1 plates.

2012 West Australian State Sprint Kart Championships, Bunbury - 1st Place Clubman Light

In October 2012 Anthony confirmed his standings as one of Australia’s best driver in the Clubman Light class by winning the WA State Titles.  This was Anthony’s first state championship and a well deserved victory with a very mature drive against a field of very experienced Clubman drivers.

2013 West Australian Formula Ford Series

In 2013 Anthony moved from go karts to Formula Ford and after 7 rounds in the WA Series he finished as the series championship winner for 2013 and the Rookie of the Year, the youngest driver in history to win this award in WA.
